WINTER CHILL NEEDED
~600–800 hrs
POLLINATION
Needs a pollination partner

Pollination

Dioecious - one male ('Tomuri', 'Matua') per six to eight female vines. 'Jenny' is a lower-yielding self-fertile option.

Growing it

Zones 7-9. Needs a long frost-free season and a very strong pergola - a mature vine is enormous. Prune hard twice a year.

Will you get enough chill?

Kiwifruit (Fuzzy) needs roughly 600800 hours between 32 and 45 °F over winter to break dormancy evenly. Check your area with the chill hours calculator. Low-chill breeding has pushed many varieties well below the figure here, so read the plant tag.

Chill and pollination are given at the fruit-type level; specific cultivars can differ. Values are typical ranges for home-garden planning.
